The bone behind my ear

The bone directly behind my ear appears to have some sort of a split in it.  Its not very painful, sore to press on though.  It is not genetic, but its very obvious it shouldn't be there.  it curves upward, and you can feel underneath the skin where the bone splits.  I don't recall hitting my head recently, or anything that would have caused this, I just happened to notice it putting in earrings one day.  I get headaches frequently throughout each day and migraines at least three times a week, but I suffered from an eating disorder for several years of my life and am only just now recovering and eating right.  I am also massively addicted to caffeine and coffee, and pretty much stay busy doing something always.  Why on earth would this split be here, and should I take the time out of my schedule to visit a doctor over it, or just casually bring it up next time it is necessary to see a doctor?  I'm just kind of worried, because above the split either the bone is sticking out slightly or something is a little swollen.  How much should I look into this?
