Throat problems

BP medication (lotrel & nadolol) was cause of dry cough many years ago, but now is back and I must keep water with me or get coughing attacks.  When I get excited like at football games or loud parties my throat seems to tighten up and my voice is altered to very low like laryngitis until I settle down and its over.  At night I seem to have to clear my throat alot if I don't constantly drink water.  I also notice that my tonsils have cryptic craddles and some times collect food thats eaten and decays causing very bad breath even when I can't see anything in my tonsils.  Could this be symptons of something serious like cancer or some other illness.  I'm wondering if these craddles may be all in my throat as well and is whats causing my problems.

What you describe on the tonsils may just be 'Keratosis Tonsillis" and one need not worry about the same. But rather than guessing about what may be causing your problem, it is advisable to visit an ENT and get the expert advice.

One component (Benzazepril) of Lotrel can produce dry cough as a side effect. Nadolol is known to produce bronchospasm (asthma) in some.

So, if you are still taking the above medicines, it may mean a visit back to your regular doctor as well.

Best,

Thomas Antony
