Thyroid Disorders and SCM swelling

I have had health problems for about 4 years now. I developed problems after my son was born. It ranged from IBS to irregular heart beat to severe fatigue and chronic sinus infections. I also get very tense muscles and tingling on my skin sometimes. I therefore had been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Recently however, in the last year my sinuses were causing more and more problems. I was put on antibiotics yet again. My IBS got much worse and I started noticing tingling up the right side of my face and felt pains in the back of my head. I started going to get answers and saw many different Dr.s including a Neurologist and an Endocrinologist. Neurologist found a calcium deposit on my brain stem but was not concerned with it. The Endocrinolgist said my thyroid was enlarged, enflamed and had a nodule on the left side. She ran all of my blood work and biopsied the nodule. Everything came back normal and benign. She did nothing for me other than said we will continue to monitor it. In the last 6 months my SCM muscle on my right side of my neck, has swelled out. It feels just like rubbery, soft tissue. It causes a lot of pain that shoots into my right ear. I had a CT on my neck this week and the Dr. said it is normal. Could my thyroid be causing all of these odd symptoms even with normal blood work? I am at a loss for what to do, I do not want to live in this pain anymore and be told that nothing is wrong with me. Please help!

well, you can add me to the list. i have the exact same problem, sans any doctor helping or even acknowledging it. i went to a thyroid surgeon (cause she is filling in for the short staff of endo's) because my SCM muscle had been swollen, and I have horrible ear pain every day, along with pain down the fron of my neck. an ultrasound showed i had a small 5mm hypoechoic nodule (on the side of the pain, of course). they didnt say anything else about it, other than it didnt appear very vascular and their impression was it was c/w a colloid. the thyroid surgeon, looked at me like a deer in headlights when i said i had ear pain, neck pain, and it was killing me...she said she had never heard of pain from thyroid nodules. went to an ENT, he said the same. heres whative learned. everyone in the medical field knows that thyroiditis is severely painful, causing pain in the ears and neck. nobody in the medical field can fathom a nodule on the thyroid, causing the same symptoms. they will argue til their death that its not possible, its unheard of, they have never seen a single case, etc. yet, i jump online and there are SOOOOO many people going in to these docs, telling them their ears and necks hurt, and then a nodule(s) are found and the docs wont acknowledge them as a cause of pain. there is no doubt in my mind that thyroid nodules can and do cause neck and ear pain. the question becomes, when they are small, like mine and causing such pain, does it mean they are more likely cancerous (if painful) ?? do you push for a biopsy if there is pain?? hard to know what to do since most doctors 'dont believe' in thyroid pain! i wish i could give them a nodule! lol

Did you ever find out what was wrong with your SCM muscle or did it go away? For 8 months now I've had my SCM muscle looking puffier and more noticeable on my left side of my neck as well as pain in my ear on that side and all tr muscles in the surrounding area are all tight and sore. I've been so scared of something bad but no drs can give me an answer but that it's something muscular going on.
