Tonsilitis now trouble swallowing

Tonsilitis now trouble swallowing

Hello,

Over two months ago, I had tonsilitis. I did not see a doctor thinking it would go away on its own. I eventually went to the ER because my tonsils got so big I had trouble breathing. They gave me a steroid shot, steroids (prednisone 20mg for 6 days), and antibiotics (z-pak), said the x-ray indicated my epiglottis was enlarged and sent me on my way. Since then, my tonsils have shrunk a bit, but they still are on the large side. Now, whenever I eat something, I feel like if I take anything larger than a tiny mouthful of food, it gets stuck in my throat or it falls in my windpipe and I choke. I've been to an ENT and he used a scope to look in my nose/ airway. He said everything looked ok but my tonsils were huge. It's making it incredibly hard to eat and it feels like there's always a lump in my throat. Whenever I take a swallow with water, it makes it so much worse. And cold water makes the lump in my throat feel worse. It's driving me nuts! I have no fever. Everything else seems ok except for some chest pain every so often.

Thanks!!
