Treating Sinus without Antibiotics

Hi..looking for some suggestions.  Chronic sinus history, had my "miracle" surgery 10 years ago, now I just get the usual fall/winter bouts.  Recently tapered vancomycin for recurring C Diff, so they'll have to strap me down and force feed me another antibiotic before I treat with more of those..lol. (!!), just wondering if anyone knows of a good home treatment/preventative remedy to try and treat the symptoms before onset of more serious infection, as I am also reading that up to 80% can be treated without the antibiotics.  Thanks for any ideas....

Thanks to both for the suggestions!  Used the neti once and got instant relief..wow, that was wet and wild..lol.  Will read up on your technique as well Friggy - Im a big fan these days of forward-thinking and no antibiotics.  Drinking tons of water for months now with the C Diff so I think that has helped fight this thing back as well - fingers crossed.  Again, thanks to both of you.

I invented an aggressive technique for flushing out the sinuses.  It requires bending over in a shower to get the saline into your sinuses, so you have to take a small risk, but it was effective against a 5-year chronic sinus problem, and has been undefeated against every cold and sinus infection since.  Cursor the blue "friggy" to find the instructions on my journal. It looks complicated at first, but once you figure it out you'll have clear sinuses until you get to the age that you have to switch to a neti pot.

Yes, the neti pot uses a saline type solution that you pour thru your nose...it's kind of strange at first, but it really keeps my nose clean (and can breathe!!!).  When I know a front is coming OR going to visit friends w/ cats, I take Allegra (I don't take it everyday like supposed to). Also when I feel that FIRST itch in my nose, I take a Benedryl  (even though it makes me sleepy) and start pumping the flonase.....ONE big allegery attack, and I've got a sinus infection.  I think the key is trying to prevent the big allegery attacks.  I used to get 6-8 sinus infections a year, and the last 2 years I've probably had 4 (no surgery).  Once you get an infection, drink as much water and gatorade, oj that you can.  It will take about 2-3 weeks, but you CAN flush it out.  (also if you eat smaller amounts of food and just drink, drink it works better)...good for the waistline too..haha

Thank you!  I did see those online today, looks like an irrigation-type process?  I can be verrrry patient if it means no more antibiotics for sure...thanks so much!

Use the neti pot if you haven't already.....you can do it 2 times a day starting in OCT when the fronts come thru.....drink LOTS of fluids.  I've flushed many sinus infections without using antibiotics...it takes longer of course, but can be done.
