Unknown bump at the back of the mouth

by inquisitive1, Mar 04, 2007 12:00AM
I have a small, light yellow/white, protruding bump at the back of my mouth, to the left behind my uvulva. It does not hurt, and has not caused any swelling. I've had it for several months now, but I don't think it's been over a year. Would anyone have any idea as to what it could be and is it dangerous?

Small bumps behind the uvula sound like they're on your posterior pharynx, the back of your throat.  That's a frequent place for post-nasal drip to cause swelling of lymph tissue that can look like little bumps.  Doctors call it 'cobblestoning', or posterior pharyngeal lympadenopathy, since it resembles the bumpiness of an old road.

If it's that persistent, it's worth a trip to the doctor to check it out
