Vestibulra Nerve Damage

Most recently I was diagnosed with a 90% loss fo balance from the right vestibular nerve.  Though I have done well in compensating, I still have a constant jello like feeling in my head.  Is there anyone else that is experiencing something similar?

Lots of people, I'm sure... did you have vestibular rehab therapy? That can be really helpful (if you get it from a therapist who specializes in vestibular disorders).

Thank you Nancy.  Yes, I have been through it all...balance retraining, et al.  I also ballroom dance for balance enhancement.  However, I still have that odd feeling in my head.  The only thing that calms the nerve, is a glass or two of red wine each night!  What also contributes to the problem is that I have cervical neck problems, which can also cause balance problems.  Kind of a double whammy here. But thank you for your help!  Have a great holiday.

Yeah, I have constant low-level dizziness too. My head never feels normal, but I'm mostly able to ignore it and function well. Ballroom dancing is probably great for keeping your balance system "tuned up." I work in a very busy library, so I'm constantly walking, turning, bending, etc.--which you'd think would be enough to compensate totally--but I still have that feeling in my head!

(Not from VN, though; the cause of my dizziness is unknown.)

I don't drink alcohol (don't like the taste), but if it works for you, great! Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant (I believe), so maybe that's why it calms your balance system.
