I am 45 and have had nasal polyps for 7 years. Started treatment with Nasonex 6 years ago and slowly Nasonex stopped having any impact. Went to an ENT who then prescribed nasal rinse using Pulmicort Budesonide Ampoules. This was effective for the lat 4 years but was messy because as soon as you got off it, the polyps would come back in a couple of weeks. For the past two months the pulmicort has now stopped being effective. Hence am looking forward to an appointment with the ENT for a possible surgery. In the meanwhile another doctor prescribed nasal spray OMNARIS to be used in tandem with Pulmicort - 2 corticosteroids at the same time!. It was effective for a day but after that no.
I happened to try taking Advil yesterday and lo and behold, after 3 tablets in 12 hours, my right nostril cleared up after having been shutoff for almost a month. I have been inhaling steam for the past week too. I hope this relief continues for a while till I see the ENT. If this is effective on a long term basis, what could be the need for surgery?

I'm extremely hesitant about getting surgery as I have had an operation on my tongue about 10 years ago (dysplasia) which of course is facial surgery and I would like to avoid getting invasive surgery again. Although the surgery was a success I remember the side effects were unpleasant which lasted for about two - three months. I am more interested in natural therapies to make this/these polyps disappear from my left nostril which is embarrassing and affects my life with recurring constant nasal dripping some days, headaches, sinuses, nasal pressure and sleepless nights increasing in the last six months to now about once every one or two weeks. My left nostril is about 90 percent blocked and I can't breathe clearly have lost my sense of smell on left side as well as having constant stuffiness/congestion. Are there any effective, natural remedies that actually reduce or cause the polyp to disappear?

I just found out I have them and everything makes perfect sence now. The inability to breath, lack of sleep and voice change. One is is closed 100% and the other 80% Im on steriods and cant wait for the surgery. I can feel them move around now. Kind of gross so looking forward to being rid of them. Ive had this for years and didnt know what was wrong.

Hello everyone,

I've battled with nasal polyps for 2 years and no meds have proved successful :/
I've saw an ad for an ebook called nasal polyps treatment miracle - supposedly it claims to cure your polyps in a few days...has anyone tried it?

I used to drink alcohol a lot ! and one day i couldnt breat from nose .. then i discovered that i have full blown polyps . right nostrill has minimum 3 big ones . and left have 2 big ones . i cant drink now . when ever i have beer or wine they grow big next morning . schotch is fine but only one shot .

Here is what i am currently doing while i keep my drinking habit (but only hard drinks).

Things which worked :

Horse radish paste mixed with pure honey (morning one spoon before break fast and night before dinner ) --> if you dont drink alcohol then you can eliminate your polyps in one month (total clean ).

I also do breathing (pranayama - 15 min daily , morning) --> is gives me lot of relief

chop garlic very thin and mix with your dinner (raw, 1 clove) --> keeps ypu safe from any infection around your polyps..(this is main point to note)

Flutinose also worked fine but .. i am total  natural person .. i hate taking tablets or steroids.

Things not comfortable with :

I do salt water rinse .. it works but once after i do .. after 30 min ... i nose is blocked and i can breath again .. i dont know whats wrong ...

I also drink black tea ..( i am a tea addict .. never add sugar and milk to tea ... they are the main terrorists that make polyps worse)

Hope it helps some one ... i live with polyps and i am sure i will get rid of it in 6 months .. all docs said surgery surgery .. i have seen many people with cotton stuffed in nose after a horrible surgery ..

bye

Follow the pranayam I posted on May 9, 2008 on this thread, and your breathing will ease gradually and the polyps will disappear slowly.

I just had a lot (and I mean a lot! Apparently around 20!) polyps. I couldn't breathe, constant headaches.

I was kept overnight as they "pack" your nasal passages (or wherever they are removed) overnight and remove these in the morning. Not the nicest thing having the packs taken out.

Erm, the first operation I took 2 weeks off sick as it was a larger operation than my first. (They had to make holes for the fluid to drain, you probably won't need this as it doesn't sound as bad as mine was!)  The second was just a week. You can't really do much as your nose tends to bleed if you do.

I didn't suffer much afterwards to be honest. It took my system a good 6months for them to grow back, and then had another polypectomy just a year after my first (the doctors prefer to wait 2 years as you could damage the inside of your nose) this was in '05 (? Not quite sure ..) and I've not had many problems since.

Just to clarify. It hasn't "cured" me. I still have a few bad days, but overall it was well worth it.

If I've missed anything, just ask!

Katie.

Hey, I know how you feel!
I've lived with my polyps for my whole life (17years now) and the only thing that ever worked for me was surgery.
Nosesprays helped a little and so did the antihistimes, but it wasn't good enough in my opinion.
I've had 2 polypectomys to date, and I am so glad I did. They aren't the nicest operations, but it helped me alot. How old are you might I ask? I was told that my polyps would continue to grow back quite quickly until I stopped growing (mid-twenties). But I haven't had many problems since my second operation.

The methods listed above about breathing techniques helped alot in my case also.

Hope I can help! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me!

Delay your operation for 6 months.Polyps will grow back and they will operate again.Do these exercises everyday for 4 to 5 months at least and you will notice the polyps disappearing.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after 1 minute.
Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for upto 15 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Anulom Vilom -  Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30  minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day).
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep breaths into the lungs.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Duration : 5 to 15 times

You can get surgery for the polyps, but if you want to try anything else, Nasonex has been proven effective for polyps in some patients.
As far as curing your sinusitis, which is most likely the cause of most nasal polyps, I have developed a saline Sinus Flush that has proven 100% effective against every sinus problem I have had, and I've had most of them.  It's a little risky, because you have to bend over in a shower to get the saline into ALL of the infected sinus areas, but it works fabulously.  The instructions can be found by putting your cursor on the blue "friggy" and going to the Journal Entry.  It seems complicated at first, but it's easy when you get the hang.
