White raised bump on toddlers tongue?

I just noticed my 2 year old son has a raised white bump on his tongue its like the size of a wart and only one.   What could it be?  He has had no fever or anything strange he does however still use a sippy cup and drinks alot a milk everyday.

Hi,

I do agree with what chippi1 mentioned. It can be either a lingual thyroid or a hypertrophied lingual tonsil. No need to worry! Consult an ENT specialist for further evaluation and management.

Hi, when my daughter, now 24, was about this age we noticed the same thing and asked the doctor about it. It was a white raised area, about the same size, on the tip of her toungue. He told us it was probably a piece of her thyroid that just grew in the wrong place ??? and not to bother with it. We never bothered with it and it never caused any problems and she still has it to this day. I'm not saying that's what it is, just sharing our story with you. Could be a number of things I suppose. If it's not causing any discomfort or pain or growing, just ask the pediatrician the next time you get in to the office. Good luck
