allergies?

in july of 08 i woke up one morning, my right ear starting feeling as if it was tightening all of a sudden, then i started getting dizzy and feeling sick to my stomach, it was the starting of vertigo, which i had never had or heard of before...my husband took me immediately to the doctor, he checked me and said i am swollen in nose and glands, he gave me meclizine and told me to take it every 8 hours....that was all!..over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm. at the hospital, they took a regular cat scan, and told me my sinuses were filled with fluid and my eustation tube in my right was filled, and that the fluid looks as if it was in there for a long time, they went over a lot of questions with me, and they said a very long dose of antibiotics would eventually shrink the swelling and then clear the tubes...well its been almost 2 years now and i havent had vertigo in over a year, cause my right ear wont open..i have a deviated septum and both ears hurt, sinuses wont drain, i get infections, my doctor wont keep me on antibiotics for longer then a month, so infections comes back even worse, now my ears hurt i get soreness by cheekbones and eyebrows, and even back of my head from left ear to right ear is sore, feels like bruises, i finally went to ent and without even asking me anyquestions she said i have menieres disease, cause my hearing test showed i cant hear certain high pitch sounds, and my eardrum moves in my ear, so it cant be blocked eustation tubes. i am waiting for the hospital to call me to make an appointment for cat scan of sinuses, i am worried sick, every ache in my ears makes me feel like i am going to loose my hearing...i have so many symptoms of allergies and my entire head is filled with fluid, i can feel it. i hope all this makes sense, as i cannot possible explain everything i am feeling..but sick of air noise in my right ear, and when i move my head it feels like glands swollen and like someone is pulling at the inside of my ears...left ear usually bothers me more then right, although right ear is the ear with air noise, and sometimes it sounds like a watch ticking or keys hitting together..make sense??? probably not, but i tried to explain what i can...please can someone write me back, i am so sick to my stomach with all of this....thank u so much........

Meniere's is an inner ear disorder that can affect hearing and balance. There is no cure for it; it is only managed.   You can experience episodes of tinnitus, vertigo and progressive hearing loss.  Lymphatic channels in the inner ear are dilated and affect the drainage of fluid of the inner ear labyrinth/endolymph. Usually one ear is affected.  There is no exact cause why this happens.

I was initially diagnosed with this, but after a second opinion it was found that I didn't have it; I have Unresolved Labyrinthitis.  So, please make sure the diagnosis is correct.

That is just some info to get you started to understanding what it is.  You can also goggle Meniere's.

thank you for your reply...already i feel better, my ent didnt do any testing at all, just hearing test,

i am waiting to set up an appointment, for a cat scan of my sinuses, i am hoping it is all just due to allergies and, as my ears r hurting and nose is stuffed up, glands r swollen, i feel miserable.

i do have to go for a vng test, but not until next month, and i am not looking forward to it,

i am hoping the cat scan will show it is all just do to allergies and nothing more..i have been a nervous wreck, and i do not know much about menieres disease,

if anyone can give me some more info on the disease i would appreciate it..

thank you :-)

Have you been assessed by an Allergist?  Sounds like allergies might be causing all the ENT issues.  I would recommend finding an ENT Specialist who deals with allergy issues.

Did this ENT Specialist that stated you had Meniere's do any vestibular testing at all?

Suggestion:  If your posts tend to be lengthy, I would recommend breaking them into paragraphs, easier to read.  :)
