I was away with my kids before they returned back to school. I'm sorry. I thought I wrote that. Went to VA beach. It was nice to get away from the north jersey side. I'm glad that you have another possibility other than surgery. It never hurts to keep searching as long as its not life threatening. sinus and teeth are very closely connected. One sits ontop the other. Its a great possiblity this might be your problem. Fingers crossed for good luck.
Glad your back haven't heard from you lately, everything okay? Yeah they did a CBC. I had elevated reading for epstein barr, everything else was okay, but i have got different news, i thought i would get a second opinion about a root canal i had done a year and half ago. The new dentist found tooth decay and root canal tooth has sharp edges tooth may be cracked anyway i was concerned in this area because this is my upper left of my mouth and the turbinates are swelling on the left side of my nose may be just coincidental but im trying all routes before i finally decide on sinus surgery,so i am getting a few teeth fixed and i will go from there,i just hope this is the cause so i dont have to have sinus surgery.. the new dentist said the sinus might be affecting my teeth or vice versa or possible in my case i might just have both problems.. i hope you dont mind i ramble on but its nice to talk to you.... thanks again for listening to me... keep in touch:)
CBC: complete blood count-mostly checking for infections or abnormal reading; to check a MD go to: rateMDs.com
Hope to hear from you soon.
They are checking for some viruses and checked my imoglobbins. What is the CBC?
It's always good to get a b12 shot. As per before surgery, I would take the arnica which helps in healing. No advil/motrin etc. It makes you bleed more-becomes dangerous in surgery. You have to be careful. What blood test are you waiting for? CBC? keep in touch.
My last CT sinus was in march or april of this year. I will ask about the b12 shot do you suggest to get the shot before surgery? I am also waiting for some blood results back . keep in touch:)
We do have alot of doctors to choose from. The weather here yesterday was beautiful, lovely and warm like a spring day but that can change very quickly and we can be back to winter temps by the next day. Although, it's 6.50am now and the sun is shining, could be another nice one. :) Steve Irwin was from Queensland and I'm from New South Wales, so it is quite a distance and yes it is beautiful up there. Queensland is where the rainforests are and it's much warmer up there. I hope you do get to visit Bubbles we're a pretty friendly laid back lot. :)
Any doctor, including your regular medical doctor, can give you a B12 injection. You can purchase B12 @ GNC and take it on a daily basis but the initial start, you should get an injection. It works faster when given by injection, so I've experienced. It's a vitamin to boost up your immune system to fight against viruses/bacteria along with strong antibiotics. As per choosing surgery over an infectious doctor, that all depends on how severe the situation is. Ive been down that road for a year before I went under surgery. The infections only got worse over time but we are all different. What didn't work for me may very well work for you. Both ENT and Infectious doctors are well educated pretty much on the same level of expertise. As per your history, you might end up going for the surgery down the road. When is the last time you had the CT Sinus? If you had a recent one and no change, then it might be better to go through it, it can only help. Your breathing will be better because the surgeon will open up your congested/infected sinuses and any infection found. Pt's I've talked with who've undergone sinus surgery, including myself, had a good experience with some discomfort.
My son would fly to australia tomorrow. His idol was Steve Irwin, the croc man. I was supposed to take him this year but the unfortunate tragedy took place. How far are you from there? It's really beautiful there as per pictures I've seen. I am hoping to get there hopefully sometime in 2008 if all goes well.
Wow,I didnt realize how far away you were. Do you have a lot of doctors to choose from in Sydney? How is the weather there now? Let me know if you have any progress, I wish you well also:)
Thanks for the info, where do you get the shot for vitamin b12, Is the infectious doctor the only one that gives that shot? It would be great if you know that website for medical profiles, thanks. Do you think it would be wise to see the infectious doctor before getting surgery with the Ent? talk to you soon:)
I live in Southern Sydney, Aust., I'm allergic to the clavulanic acid that is in Augmentin. :( I have tried Rulide and Klacid, Klacid is the same as Biaxin. It looks like I will have to see a different ENT specialist if Keflex doesn't work. Thanks for your replies.
Only use it in the nostril that's infected. You can use it 8 sprays a day. You can look up a doctors credential by going on a website for medical md profiles. I'll get you a site. Biaxin is a very strong antibiotic and I'm shocked that your doctor has not recommended it by now. Also, you should get a shot of Vitamin B12 to start building up your immune system along with a strong antibiotic. This is where an infectious doctor comes in because they build resistence against the virus/bacteria. I live in New Jersey near the Continental Arena. I'm glad I can help you. If you ever need more advice and I can help you with it, send me a message. I'll search on my side if you're having trouble on yours. I've been through alot. Life experience taught me well.
Sorry to hear about what happened to your nose again:( You are very helpful to me I hope you dont mind all my questions. do you think i should use the silver 8 sprays a day? should i use it in only the nostril that gives me trouble? How do you find out about a doctors credentials? do you think Biaxin antibiotic is stronger than the silver nose spray? What does an infectious doctor do for you? do you know a good infectious doctor? I live in Pennsylvania- but close to Ohio. How about you ,where are you from? again, i cant thank you enough :)
Do you know anything about ear pressure besides TMJ. I constantly feel it in the left ear and it's extremely annoying. Any suggestions?
Good to talk with both of you. It's nice to be able to give and receive advice on everyday life situations.
Good luck to both of you.
Talk with you soon.
As per your questions on my personal experience with sinus surgery, I've had my sinuses opened completely. I experienced a blow to my face after having the perfect sinus surgery - no more infection or allergy and breathing was awesome. I smelt things I couldn't prior. I had a good experience with my very first one in 2001. The ENT Surgeon was worth every dollar. I woke up with minimal pain/bleeding. My second surgery was a mistake because I got divorced and moved away from the original surgeon and didn't feel like driving 40 minutes to him (as I've said - big mistake). I experienced the worst pain and healing was etrocious. My third was back to the original surgeon who fixed the nightmares mistake. The surgery is good if you really need it. It helps in many ways. Make sure you check the surgeons credentials from top to bottom.(( My trauma was due to my ex - I received a severe blow to the face, including the nose and underwent alot of pain, unimaginable pain; it took years for them to diagnose and because of that dreadful day, still have the pain. Surgery is required but a rather scary one)). Like I said, the original surgery was artistically done. Any doctor who looked at the CT after the surgery was amazed and with disbelief that such surgery can be done. What area are you in? You shouldn't be afraid of the surgery. It really isn't bad at all. A little discomfort/bleeding is all you should experience. Again, every body is different. Do not do strenuous work.
Sorry. My mistake. Hit the wrong button on computer. Another strong antibiotic you should try is "Biaxin". This one is used for staph infections. I had a staph after my experience with surgery. It took 3 weeks of Biaxin therapy before it went away. Finally it did. I know these antibiotics are expensive, but the doctors should have samples in there office. Ask before filling script. Usually they give it.
Have you ever used "augmentin" antiobiotic? This one is very powerful and expensive if you don't have insurance; worth a try if you can afford it. I would recommend going to an infectious doctor because you need to build your immune system.
Sorry to hear you are not doing well. Keep looking for that Ent that is nice and has a good bedside manner i didnt like my last doctor either. What area are you from?
You are very helpful. I have only been on the collodal silver for 3-4 days the first day or so i was only using 1 spray in one nostril ( the turbinate swelling nostril) I am now using 2 sprays in the one nostril. Would you use this like 3 times a day. I was afraid of using too much.should i use this in both nostrils ? my turbs are only swelling in the one I haven't had any discharge coming from the nose. the last two comments you said to evie1963 or were you asking me those questions , if so i have tried the oil of oregano and it didnt help. I havent seen an infectious doctor , Can you suggest any antibiotic that might be helpful? the 500mg levaquin didnt help me. and the doctor said my body is probably immune to the antibiotics - but do you think all of them? I really dont want surgery I WISH i could cure this with a miracle antibiotic. also do you think i should see an infectious doctor before doing surgery? what sinus surgery did you have if you dont mind me asking ? thanks for being here for me. :)
I'm now on Keflex 250mg (clarithromycin) twice a day for staph infection - I also now have blocked ears because of middle ear infections I came down with 10 days ago. I'm a bit worried about trying new types of meds as I have a low immune system and have developed allergies to a few antibiotics and food. But I will ask my GP about the Colloidal Silver and oregano oil. It's a comfort to talk to people who understand. :) Thanks to you both.
PS Personally I have never been to an infectious doctor I went to an ENT a few years ago and had the camera put up my nose. The worse thing? Dry retching continuously after he sprayed a numbing agent? up my nose. The taste was disgusting! Embarrassingly he passed me his waste paper bin to use and a comment that he couldn't believe I had such a reaction! Needless to say I never went back to have an MRI. :(
What have doctors recommended for these chronic infections? Have you been to an infectious doctor? If so, what did he recommend? Sometimes, it takes many antibiotics before curing infections. Not all work or your body may be so immune to them that they have no effect. You need to start building up your immune system.
If you need more input, let me know.
Did you ever try "OREGANO OIL" from GNC? Works great with chronic infections. Nasty tasting because its oil. (I took 8 drops to 8 oz of water). It smells just like the leaves oregano for sauces. Check to see how you should take if you've never taken it before. Again, herbs can be damaging if you are allergic. Always check.
Let me know.
