blisters on tonsils

My 2 year old daughter started with a fever a couple of days ago.  Yesterday, she developed small blisters on her tonsils.  Today, it appears as if the blisters have popped and now they look more like canker sores.  My husband took her to the doctor this morning and was told she has viral pharyngitis.  However, when I look that up on the web, the articles do not mention blisters or sores...just a severe sore throat.  Could it possibly be something else?

I have the same issue, but I'm not sure if its the same thing. I'm 40 and during a trip to my wife's home town in Mexico in early December I came down with a really sore throat the day we left to come home. It hurt really bad. My sinus was really stuffed up with yellow mucus. I have had on/off sinus infections too with post nasal drip in the past, which I suspected was the culpret. Along with my sore throat, my tonsils and surrounding area in the arches of my throat were pinkish red and inflammed looking. I also had a tic tac sized blister looking lump on my right tonsil. When I got back to the states, I made an appointment with my primary care Doctor and he prescribed me a 5 day treatment of Azithromycin. The pain in my throat went away, but the redness in my tonsils and surrounding region around my throat arches have remained red and inflammed looking and the blister looking bump has not gone away. So I made an appointment with an ENT and saw her on 1/25. She looked and didn't think it was something to worry about since I was no longer feeling pain. It just looks awful. She says she sees lots of mouths and mine was not one that would cause her concern unless the pain returned. It doesn't hurt, but the blister can be discomforting when I swallow. I am wondering what the redness and lumpy blister could be? Its been 2.5 months and hasn't gone away. I will google viral pharyngitis and see what I find.
