I had cat scan of sinuses in sept 2011 where I find out that my turbinates were enlarged from allergies and frontal sinus mucous thickening, my ent recommended surgery where the teurbinates were reduced and maxillary sinuses were cleaned out, but he did not feel touching the frontal sinus was necessary.
I felt ok for a few months but lately for last 2 months I am experiencing fatigue, nasal allergies, meck and shoulder pain etc. I have had decadron injections, antibiotics and nothing is helping.
I just got another scan of the sinuses last week and the nurse called me yesterday to say that there was mild inflammation of the sinuses and sent me a copy of the report which I still do not understand.
It says there is mild mucosal thickening of the inferior aspect of the right frontal sinus.
There is a mucous retention cyst or polyp in the floor of the left frontal measuring approximately 6 mm in greatest dimension. There is mucosal thickening of the floor of the maxillary sinuses bilaterally with a probable mucous retention cyst or polyp of the floor of the left maxillary sinus
Impression from last scan: mild chronic sinus changes primarily in bilateral frontal and bilateral maxillary sinuses.
No air fluid level is seen to suggest acute sinusitis.
Why am I feeling fatigued and neck and shoulder burning pain, does this sinus scan indicate infection and inflammation.
I use flonase and the net pot rinse everyday but nothing is helping.I started using Augmentin antibiotic 875mg
that I had started for 5 days a few weeks ago. I dont know if I have a viral infection or bacterial infection.
Could a doctor or someone expereienced in this in this community please help me.
