chronic mastoiditis

A temporal bone CT scan confirmed complete opacification of one of my mastoids.  ENT says it doesn't look infected, because there is no bone loss.  Normally he says they don't do surgery if it is not infected, but he had a previous patient with same symptoms & CT as me - dizzyness, upper neck pain on that side, some headache, slight facial numbness. (I also have a weird twisted nerve feeling in my upper throat)  I've had these symptoms for 7 years.  His previous patient had mastoidectomy and all her symptoms resolved.  Any ENT's out there who have done this surgery when there is no indication of infection on CT, but it is completely opacified.... what results were achieved.  Any alternative to surgery...he says antibiotics won't do any good because it doesn't look infected.  thanks
