difficult to swallow

for a little less than a year now ive been feeling a lump in my throat when i swallow. it seems especially difficult to swallow bread products and meat that isnt almost over chewed. ive had ultrasounds on my thyroid, they say there is an enlargement and a cyst, but thats kind of where they left it. i want to know if i should push the issue a little further?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Your difficulty swallowing could be due to the enlarged thyroid. As suggested you should get yourself reevaluated for the same. Besides this the other causes for difficulty swallowing are enlarged tonsils and GERD. Gastro esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is caused due to reflux of acid from the stomach into the esophagus. It could also be due to disorders of the esophagus. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Yes. Your thyroid is important.  However, ultrasounds can't detect the cause of the lump.  Only a biopsy can.
