ear pressure eustacheun tube blockage

I have been suffering from ear pressure/headaches/nasea since flying while having a head cold for the last 3months.  Been to plenty of docs and ENT's who diagnosis is a dysfunctional eustacheun tubes and have prescrbed antibiotics, decongestives, Flonase  steriod nose spray, and decongestive pills without any help.  Anyone out there have a similar experience and possibly a cure?

Hi,
Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.

Oh how misserable it is.

The tube is the only thing that helped me. My ENT and allergist did have me use Afrin (3 days on then 3 days off) and prednesone.  Neither worked for me.  The tube was wonderful.  My ENT was reluctant to go that direction as 50% of adults hate them and have them taken back out.  I will definitely consider having them done again if I think they are necessary.  I will tell you that there is a slight humming/low roar as the ear drum does not vibrate the way it normal does, but it does relieve the pain and is quite tolerable in comparison.

I hope that helps you some.

God bless

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.

If the Eustachian tube dysfunction, does not resolve with medical therapy, then surgical options are the choice of treatment. Myringotomy, where a tiny slit is made in the eardrum to aspirate any middle ear fluid and to allow temporary ventilation into the middle ear space. Pressure Equalization Tube, PET, where  a tiny plastic or metal tube, is introduced into  myringotomy to keep the portal open.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
