ear trouble

i have had a constant heahache for over two weeks now and painful earache. i first thought it was an ear infection but i don't know. It isn't constant pain but on and off. also i dont know if this is relevent but when the phone rings there is a painful thumping in my ears which didn't used to be there. i also have a sore throat. i had alot of wax in my ears and i gently cleaned it out but it hasnt helped.
