ear tubes

I had a temporary ear tube inserted five days ago and feel like I have an earache.  When I pull gently down on my ear this earache goes away and my hearing improves. What is occurring here?  My ear also feels sore inside.  Is this normal?

I think you should have the doctor take a look at your ear. The pain could be due to infection.  It is hard to say if it is normal or not.  Young kids account for the largest portion of ear tubes.  I did not experience these symptoms with the tube I had inserted 7 months ago, but that doesn't say much.  I will say that my doctor was very reluctant to insert a tube.  He said that  50% of adult patients are unhappy with the results (deminished hearing and distracting sounds) and have them removed.

I hope this has helped you some.

Have a blessed New Year.
