hard, dark phlegm?

for the last year or so i have had what seems like a permanent drip at the back of my throat and light greenish, thick phlegm in the morning. what is really distrubing is occasionally (twice in past 4 months) i find a round, longish dark green/black hard piece of...phegm? in my mouth. i don't cough it up, so i assume it is coming from the sinus and not the lungs. there is no bad smell. otherwise i haven't been sick in ages. i am 28, female, very active, very healthy non-smoker. there is also a chance that my boyfriend has this as well, and i definitely didn't have this when i met him. he is also otherwise healthy. could it be viral? wtf?

Well, I have the exact same problem. I would love an answer to this also.
