hard lump behind ear, painless?

okaay so, i discovered that i have a hard lump behind my left ear above my lymph nodes. (ive had swollen lymph nodes before from being sick, and my doctor showed me where they were incase it happened again) so its not a lymph node im sure of that. and im not sick, so they shouldnt be swollen BUT anyways
ive been having pretty bad headaches for a few weeks now and then i found this bump
it doesnt hurt, so that means its not dangerous right?
if so, what could be possibly wrong with me?
ps my headaches are in a specific spot in my head, not random places
and the bumps about a little bigger then a marble and its not moveable
so helpp please? (:
thanks!

Best of luck to you.  I understand your situation and concerns.  I'm just trying to give you responsible advice...It would be very easy for me to say something like, you have X and you should do Y -- like many people on these forums do.  But no one can know for sure what you have from a forum post and being wrong -- for some people (not necessarily you) -- could have disastrous consequences.  I think your approach that you outlined makes sense.

No - no -- I don't mean to say that you can't get opinions - you certainly can!!  I just want to impress upon you the important point that anyone (myself included) can speculate all day about what this might be, but ultimately you need to have this examined.  If there is a mass there that wasn't there before, and you are having chronic pain, you need to be seen...

Well, no one is going to be able to tell you for sure that this is not involved until you have this examined and possibly imaged.  Most people's skulls are lumpy/bumpy, so having a bump there is not, in and of itself, too alarming (unless you can for certain that this was not their before.  Many people simply don't feel their heads too closely until something hurts).  Could it be something worse or serious?  I suppose, but don't rely on someone who can't examine you to tell you that!
