heartbeat and ringing in my ears
Hi
I have had ringing in my ears and sinus problems for over a year now. I have recently can hear my heartbeat in my ears this has always been slightly there but these last few days iv had it there all the time and can hear it over everthing!
I use a steroid nasel spray and have been for 4 months i said to my Doctor about it and she said to keep on with the nasel spray but i thought you should not use the spray for too long. ( to be honest there is so much going on with me at the the moment neuro wise that i dont think its top of her list)
Does anyone else get this and know what it might be is it linked in with my neuro issues or my sinus problems i had a x ray and it showed impacted maxilliary (cant spell).
Any advise would be good.

I've had ringing inn my ears that just started but i've been hearing my heartbeat in my left ear for about five Weeks now I'm ready to cut off the left side of my head I also have no appetite I'm nauseous for half the day exhausted the rest even if I don't do anything I go to Dr tomorrow but I'm scared they're just gonna oversee it i've been to er three times in two Weeks looking for relief one Dr said I have double ear infection the other two days later said Nooooooooooo I'm sooooo scared... I've got history of cancer and I'm praying this isn't related...

I have been dealing with Tinnitus and Pulsatile Tinnitis for more than 9 months now. I recently went to a local ENT and was sent for an Angiogram CT. It showed that I had dehiscence of the right jugular vein. Basically, the cartilage that separates my ear drum and jugular vein has deteriorated. As a result, my jugular sits directly against my ear drum. They are telling me that there is no cure and that it's something I will just have to learn to live with. I refuse to believe that because it drives me absolutely insane; Especially, at night when I'm trying to go to sleep. I'm going for a second opinion this Friday. I will keep you informed.

Hmm, I don't know! My dizziness has eased a bit and isn't so constant now, thank goodness, so maybe what I'm taking has helped? Just having one antihystamine tablet a day as well as a steroid nose spray (from Dr). Maybe you should try that?
no, it's a capsule that one takes when you want to dry up your sinus's. So far it's dried up my sinus's but I'm still dizzy.....what now?
Have you or anyone else on this forum taken Benadryl D? I heard that this might help.
Well I've only been taking it all for a while, so hard to say. Am on a steroid nasal spray and taking an antihystamine tablet once a day. Am on Fludrocortozone for my Hypotension (low blood pressure) and also taking 2 magnesium tablets twice daily. Apart from that am just hoping.
Are you on any medication that helps? Does anyone on this forum take any medication that might clear up a sinus infection?
I thought I'd lost some hearing too, because I find understanding simple conversations difficult sometimes - I hear different words than they say or just simply cannot hear words at all, which is weird. I get tinnitus (the ringing in ears) sometimes but it's not loud all of the time. I got my hearing checked and it's fine apparently but I don't get to my ENT until December, so can't get more tests til then.
I get dizzy a lot when I'm in big department stores, or places that are high up, like planes and elevators. Sometimes it just comes on all of a sudden and it feels like I'm on a ship or a plane. It makes me feel uneasy and a bit nauseous.
My CT scan didn't show any tumours, only the cysts. I'm hoping to get an MRI as well to see if anything else is happening.

I live in Costa Rica and the doctors here are fair. I really think I have a good ENT, she had me take a CT scan and said I have a pretty good size infection. She gave some pills, look more like suppositories than pills (maybe they were, lol) . I took them for 2 weeks...I don't see any change. She's sending me to another doctor for a "study"......so, I'll do some studing myself. I play golf but don't seem to get dizzy while playing. It seems to hit me more when sitting at my computer all day. I have a motorcycle and it doesn't bother me there either. But if I breath cold air thru my nose, wow....my head starts spinning, same goes for cold drinks. I also have a bone tumor in my sinus which she said isn't anything to get excited about and it's not causing anything. She saw this thru the CT Scan. Scared the hell out me at first.......just don't like the word tumor.....
I have a cold right now and I feel my sinus getting real pressure. I'm going to go get me ears tested for hearing. My ears have been ringing for 10 years or so, I'm used to that. I do believe I've lost a little hearing though......

You have the exact same things? Which symptoms or all? How often? Have you had anything checked out?
Basically my Doctors are saying that they can't do anything until I see the Neurologist - haven't been able to get onto them to get an appointment. Meanwhile I feel like I'm going senile I'm having so many memory problems... The bones near my ears have been hurting a lot lately too, which is annoying.

Is canal dehiscence even diagnosed anyplace besides Johns Hopkins?
(Not that I doubt it, but when it comes to ear conditions, it seems that what you get diagnosed with often depends on whether you live in Pennsylvania, Portland OR, or Baltimore...?)

Canal dehisence is not exactly a new condition, but one of the diagnostic tools, protocols is new. That would be the VEMP. For those that care, google away.
Now the OP never mentioned vertigo, dizzy etc, which is one of the prime symptoms of CD. Another strange thing about CD, is that people that suffer from it, usually get dizzy when exposed to loud sound. In fact that is one of the tests for the condition. The VEMP employs some of that in the test.
It is a relief to know your husband is doing better, that was one of my questions I had a conference in Nanjing a few days a go.... "OK, after a VEMP, now what....?"

My husband has had balance problems for over 20 years and his quality of life had diminished so far that he was to the point that he couldn't stand it any longer. After years of doctors, tests, therapists, etc., we finally Dr. Carey at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. He diagnosed Mike with superior canal dehisence. Surgery was only a week ago, but the progress already is absolutely amazing. He also heard his heart beating (not just his pulse), he could also hear his eyes move and his saliva glands excreting. I am not a health professional, and have no clue what may be causing your problems, I just want to tell everyone about this recently discovered condition and that there is a cure for it!

Im Uk based and on the NHS not private so i cant do anything unless my GP referes me she is more worried about my neuro issues then this and thinks it might be linked.
Its hard to deal with my not as bad as everything else.
It has taken me nearly a year to get this far with my neuro issues and my doctors is good, i hope in time she will refer me.

Often time if a person has a conductive hearing loss, body noises will be much more noticeable. Noises such as heart beat, chewing etc. The jugular veien guns along the bottom of the middle ear cavity, and this is why people hear their heart beat more so with a conductive hearing loss. More than likely you have a conductive hearing loss (which is caused by a middle ear pathology) because of the sinus issues. Get the sinus issues cleaned up and I would bet the pulse noise along with the tinnitus would be alleiviated.
