help!!

i have strep throat and 3 days ago this lump formed on the right side of my neck that is painful and the size of a golf ball. the whole right side of my neck is also very swollen. what is it, should i be worried?

i went to the doctors today and they told me i may have mano. and the swollen lymph node that is in pain, im always tired and very cold is what gave it away. i went for blood work to figure out and should get the tests back tomorrow. i have been taking antibiotics for 4 days now and it isnt helping at all and neither is any anti inflammatory medication.  the doctor gave my Tylenol with codeine but thats not doing anything either. nothing i do is helping to reduce the pain, it just seems to be getting worse.

The swelling could be a lymph node. It could also be a sebaceous cyst, a boil or an insect bite. Lymph node enlargement is usually due to infections like bacterial and viral. The source of infection for you appears to be in the throat.  Treatment is usually with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. So, consult your primary care physician for proper clinical assessment. In the meantime for pain relief you can use OTC Tylenol (acetaminophen).
