lump on jaw bone

I noticed yesterday a hard lump right on my jaw bone, about half way between my ear and chin. It seems a bit like the beginning of a zit, but is very large and I am concerned it may be a tumor. It seems too large to be the beginning stage of a zit and I rarely get them. Should I be concrrned? Is there any way to tell if it is cancer? If it were cancer, would facial hair NOT grow on the bump? Any thoughts?

Hi, my boyfriend has a lump in the same place. He has had it for about a month. Cysts and others have been ruled out by an oral surgeon using antibiotics and other treatments so he was due for a Cat Scan and it turned out to be a cancer tumor. So,  if it stays for a more than 4 weeks get it checked. Finding it early can prevent it from becoming serious.

My husband gets those a lot. He says they are cysts. Usually go away within a week. Hot packs. If still there after a week I'd get checked. It will get bigger.
