lump under jaw for about a year, could it be tonsils?

I went to the doctor today and I saw the nurse practioner.I have had a lump under jaw for about a year that hasnt really been painful until lately.It has gotten harder and bigger and was causing some pain especially trying to eat.I also have swollen lymph nodes on both sides of neck and under armpit.The nurse told me my lump was tonsils and she thought I had a sinus ear and lung infection and thats what was causing my swollen lymph nodes .She felt my swollen glands and listened to my lungs and looked at my throat when I said ah,but she never looked in my nose or ears or took any blood tests.So,Im not sure if she is right...I need advice!! Thanks pattymac...p.s .  I am very weak and I have night sweats on my neck and chest but no fever.
