middle/inner ear Reset

Every now and then I have the urge to snap-twist my head to the right as if I'm startled and need to quickly see something to my right.  When I try to quickly turn my head the same way I don't get the same good feeling like when those urges give me.  I don't know how else to describe it...  When this happens its as if something in my middle or inner ear needs to be reset and a quick snap like turn does it.  I can fight the urge but the feeling nags at me till I eventually allow the snap turn.  This happens most while I'm sitting typing and/or watching TV but I have not noticed this any other time.  Maybe after some answers show up I may have a better way to describe things(?)...  What are some of the common and not so common possibilities?

  I do have a Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence and looking at my CT scan I want to say there's another gap between the Posterior(?) canal and the middle ear but coming from someone that doesn't know enough it could be other things as well.  The SSCD support group members don't have this as a symptom so it may not be related directly to that.
