pain in right area of throat
Has anyone ever experienced persistent pain in the right area of the throat?

It is constantly throbbing pain when I swallow, to the touch, and just hurts a lot in this one area of my throat.  My doctor said it is a swollen lymph gland, which I hope is all that it is.  It does look swollen a little from the outside.  I notice that I experience throat pain in this one particular area first before any other area of my throat and the pain sometimes never goes away.  A friend of mine developed a very swollen gland in this area of her throat to the point of it being as large as a grapefruit and she had to get the gland surgically removed.  I hope this doesn't happen to me.

What do people do when this happens?

What has worked in the past for this pain?

Thanks
