popping in ears when around running water

This probably sounds very strange, but whenever I am running water, such as bath water or filling up the washer, and I am standing in the room with it, my ear will consistently pop until I leave the room or turn the water off.  It has also done this when I am around popping grease, such as cooking bacon, and even a few times when I crumple up a plastic bag. My ears also often feel stopped up. What is the cause of this and what can I do about it?

serous otitis media, also known as otitis media with effusion (OME).  Your doctor can help get this fluid to drain out thru eustachian tubes

Excess fluid in your ears - maybe ear infection or allergies.  You need a proper amount of fluid in your ears.  If you have too much, changes in pressure in the air or certain sounds might bother them.  Go to a doctor.
