severe airway restriction at top of throat

severe airway restriction at top of throat

I'm 64 years old and presently have slight cold symptoms. Tonight I took aspirin, vitamin c and zinc on going to bed. I slept for one hour and woke up with breathing difficulty. I opened my mouth to assist breathing and still found I could not get sufficient air in. I got up in a panic and it took a couple of minutes walking around before I could breath adequately again and I calmed down. This has happened once before about two years ago. The back of my nose and mouth are only slightly sore. There is little to no flem (phlegm)/catarh but there is a trace of blood when blowing nose. I'm presently sitting in the lounge typing this and am afraid to go back to bed. Advice please.

when this happened before , why was your airway obstructed? Or did it just feel obstructed?
If you actually had a physical reason that the airway was shut off , you do not need to lie down flat to sleep. I would suggest seeing your doctor.

For tonight, try to drink some warm weak tea with sugar & sleep in the recliner.
I hope you feel better soon.
