sore throat for over a month

by floydpinkus, Nov 25, 2008 11:56PM
I've had a throat for a month and a half. 2 weeks ago after taking antibioticsthe pain went away. The day I stopped taking the antibiotics the sore throat came back. I took the whole dose prescribed.  I am not sure if the antibiotics actually did anything to help the sore throat. What could be the cause of this? I'm also starting to have slight hoarseness in my voice.  If it was cancer would the pain just go away for a day and come back?  I have slight swollen glands, no redness of the tonsils, no weightloss or fatigue.  I'm 48 years old, a smoker and a drinker.  Please help.
