sore throat
painful throat for 9 years, looks like white patches and red streaks in throat. CBC, thyroid, mono test, throat scan normal, what can it be?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Besides throat infections, bacterial and fungal which can cause white patches in the throat. The other causes for long term persisting white patches in the throat are syphilis, injury like chemical injury and also due to Leukoplakia (potentially precancerous). A biopsy may be needed to detect the exact cause.
