swollen eyes

Has anyone ever had swollen turbinates with pressure around eyes and swelling under eyes?  My left eye has quite a bit of swelling with a purplish tint to it and my right eye has some swelling but not as much as the left.  I feel devistated that this has changed my appearance and I was wondering if surgery has helped anyone with this particular problem.

Hi---  I have the swollen under eyes and swollen turbinates too.  Mine have gotten worse over the past 7 yrs.  My under eyes are swollen - almost fluid filled looking with the purplish/bluish discoloration . I have had sinus surgery, turbinate reduction and nothing helps.  I have constant 24/7 post nasal drainage down the back of my throat. It is thick and white. I have a constant sore throat from the drainage too. I have tried 7 yrs. of nasal rinses 3 times a day. - every nasal spray that was ever made I think, steam inhalation - you name it I had it or did it and nothing helps.  These swollen under eyes make me look about 10 yrs. older than what I am. Sometime the swelling is worse than other days so that make the skin under my eyes wrinkle. From the swelling up and down, up and down.  More up than down though.  Do you have post nasal drainage ???  Is it thick, so thick that you can constantly feel it slowly draining down the back of your throat??  My turbinates swell up  especially from weather changes, perfume, scented laundry soap, plug in air fresheners etc.  Anything with a strong scent.  My husband had to throw out all his cologne, scented bath soap etc.  Everything in my house is scent free.  But this still does not help with the swelling or the drainage.  We even bought a thousand dollar Hepa filter which is hooked up on the furnace to take out all the impurities in the house, did not help, but made the house smell good.   Sorry - I got off track --  Do you have any of the same problems to weather changes, scents etc.????   I know what you mean about how devestated you feel about the change in your appearance - I have this on both under eyes, I wear my glasses all the time and I am suppose to wear them for reading only.   Have you been to an Allergy doctor or an ENT doctor?  If not - I would first go to the Allergist to rule out allergies, as this can cause the bluish discoloration sometimes, not in my case though.  Then, if you don't have any allergies then go to the ENT doctor for a CT of your sinuses.  Then take it from there.   Please post back and let me know if you have any other symptoms that I described to you, the post nasal drainage etc.  Take care ------------Laaz
