swollen tonsil and lump

Hello, Good day..I am very concerned about my son, he's been diagnosed with strep throat twice in one month, he was given antibiotic, he is okay now, but his throat and tonsil still swollen and it never did shrunk, and on the right side of his tonsil, he had some sort of red lump, he is not complaining of pain anymore and he is able to eat well, His ENT doctor here in Yokosuka naval base, wants to give him tonsillectomy and removing his adenoids (adenoids), my son snore a lot during his sleep, and breathing thru his nose? three years here in Yokosuka naval base, he's been getting pharyngitis and strep throat, almost every year, taking his tonsils out, and adenoids (adenoids), will it help him not getting strep throat anymore, and being able to sleep without snoring too much..When he goes to school,I let him wore a face mask, just to protect him somehow what ever is on the air, especially in this winter season...I am still skeptical on this tonsillectomy and adenoids (adenoids) removal...any opinion really appreciated...Thank you so much for your time..

Correction: MY SON SNORE A LOT DURING HIS SLEEP AND BREATHING THRU HIS MOUTH..INSTEAD OF HIS NOSE?
