tonsillectomy pain swelling

tonsillectomy pain swelling

Hi,
I am 50 years old and had a toncillectomy due to strep infections, sinus infections and finally an influenza infection that I have attacked my heart muscles.
I have been sick for two years.  I have finally got my heart back in shape and thought it might break down some of the infections if I had tonsils removed.
I was told it would be a very hard process.  Well this is the morning of day 8 and I have never in my life time had such pain.
Is there anyone out there that can relate.  I would really ejoy talkin to someone about this nightmare.

Hi, sorry about your pain, I had my tonsils out in Aug 08 3 months before turning 60 I did have some pain but nothing like you have, I had a sore throat once that was worst than the toncillectomy, everyone told me its really hard on a older person, I did not think it was all that bad, there was a couple of days that were painful, the liquid pain med's they gave me helped alot, did they give you this? if not ask your Dr for some, maybe that's why mine was not that bad, I never missed taking the pain medicine, when it was time i took it, Now im having a different problem with my Uvula it hangs down and touches my tongue, see my other post under Ear, Nose, and Throat, hope you get to feeling better.
