too much mucus

i make too much mucus in my sinus , i now have a really bad sore throat , laying down makes this worse , i get a very dry throat, hard to swallow, i dont want to sound cruied but i try to snulk up to clear the snot but it wont shift then i end up making my throat even worse, i read to try manika honey in warm water with a pinch of salt snulk up each nostril. few minuets later clear water came running from my nose, it helped for a while so i am going to be paitent and try to do this at least 4 times a day, please if any one else as any idea;s , i dread laying down as my throat seems to get worse , so now i try to sleep semi sat up position , i am so fed up with this problem , doctor has just given me an erythomycin 250 mg, , i have tried so many different things not worked ,i hope this will help , the sinus also causes me to have bags under my eyes swollen , so i apply pressure with my ring finger above my eye brow and on my cheeck under my eyes for a few seconds , this helps a little .

If you do have a chronic sinus infection, typical antibiotic treatment is for 4-6 weeks.  A nasal steroid spray is also beneficial as well as oral steroids.  Nasal saline irrigations over the counter like NeilMed or Neti pot are very effective, but worsen Eustachian tube dysfunction (water in the ears or feeling of fullness in the ears).  The best diagnosis for this problem is a CT of the sinuses. Surgery is recommended to patients that fail maximal medical treatment.
