vertigo

I have had vertigo for 25 days and counting. I was prescribed amoxicillin and have been on it for 2 days, the vertigo has worsened dramatically. I can barely walk. Is this normal or should I be worried?

Well, rule out a thyroid issue and you might want to have an inner ear issue ruled out as well IF there is NO thyroid issue.

I have taken meclizine, it didn't help at all so my doctor said to stop taking it. I was given prednisone first and that didn't help so I went back to my doctor and he said I have a bacterial infection in my ear so I was prescribed amoxicillin. No diagnosis. If it doesn't go away after the amoxicillin, I go back for blood work because he thinks its my thyroid. If nothing there, then I go for scan. No other medical problems. This is the third time I have had vertigo and it has never lasted this long. I believe 7 days was all it lasted times before.

Well.....any vertigo should be taken seriously.

Have you been given anything to take for the vertigo?  i.e. Antivert, Betahistine?

What diagnosis were you given?

Any scans done of your head?  i.e. CT or MRI?

Any other medical problems?
