viral pharyngitis

Sorry to repost,
But new developments,

My sore throat is now officially for 3 weeks
I have whitish areas on back wall of pharynx and small bumps
I have google pictures and it looks like pharyngitis but without the redness???

My question is why has it been 3 weeks and not settled?
Thanks

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Most common cause for white patches is candidiaisis. It is usually caused by candida albicnas, which is a fungal infection. The white patches have a cottage cheese appearance. They can occur as a consequence to throat infection or sometimes steroid inhalers are known to promote their growth. You need to consult your doctor for proper assessment. In the meantime you can try warm salt water gargles and betadine mouth washes.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

What meds have you been prescribed?  I am assuming you have seen a physician already.
