i was diagnosed with allergic rhinitis and postnasal drip but the doctor didnt explain to me how that might be related to dizziness. my symptoms are as follows:postnasal drip, nasal congestion, phlegm, crackling in my eustachian tubes when i swallow and when im chewing food, tinnitus, occasional headaches, ear pressure(like im in a plane), a painless but spooky sensation that the inside of my head behind my face, above my eyes and on top of my head is inflated or expanding, and of course the worst:dizziness. the dizziness comes and goes all day but its a sensation that the room around me is moving away from me or kinda drifting off to the side its not true vertigo because the room never revolves, it just feels disconnected and in some kind of slight motion. sometimes ill feel a dipping sensation when i walk like im walking across a flimsy little boat. this feeling kinda starts at my head and goes down my body. many times at night when i lay down to go to sleep(which i dread about as much as waking up to a stuffed up nose and the room moving around me) i feel as though the room is swaying back and forth quckly, and sometimes i get a split second dropping sensation. its horrible. i have a hard time walking straight, and if i walk and look to the side i kinda have to catch myself when i look forward again. well here is my theory......... the sinus inflammation is caused by some unknown allergy that i am around all the time, the drip is clogging up my eustachian tubes or has entered my middle ear somehow, and because of that im getting equilibrium and dizziness problems. does this make sense? should i be concerned about something more dangerous? i would really appreciate a doctor's input or a similar experience from someone else who has seen an ENT. well really i just want to hear reassurance that everything is fine. it causes a lot of anxiety and im not in a financial position to experiment with meds and specialists, or go to the doctor often, period. i did go into a walkin clinic so thats how i got that diagnosis. i was prescribed a combination of nasonex and clarinex, then a round of allegra d. the first two meds seemed to help, but i wonder if it was possible a desperate kind of placebo effect. the allegra d sent me into panic attacks, which i assume was because the pseudoephedrine in it, so i stopped taking it and of course now my symptoms are back. any input? please?
