It could be tonsil stones.  I get those occasionally, I can even feel them with the back of my tongue.  Then they go away. They are totally benign.
Do you have a sore throat or fever?  If not, research tonsil stones, and see if it sounds like what you have.

I get them quite often. It is tonsil stones. It is something like little crevices in your tonsils that bacteria collect in. They will usually fall out. They really dont hurt you. I have sinus issues, and when I think I am getting symptoms of sinus problems- post nasal drip or sore throat, I usually get the white things too. Sometimes when they come out, they smell really bad- just a warning. I have found a decrease in them by rinsing with mouth wash. I think it helps kill the bacteria. good luck!! If they really bother you though you could always call the doc, but I dont think it is really serious.

BUT has any one been told that the tonsil stones are from sinuses because i do have sinus problems.

I was not actually told that they were associated with sinus problems. I just find that when I am experiencing any sinus issues, I tend to see them more. So, I think for me, that might be what causes them. Good luck!!

Hi everyone,

Well i was recently sick with a sore throat and then started feeling better for about two days.  I was having some sinus issue and drainage at night, anyway i woke up to these two white smelly sores on my tonsils. Its a terrible smell and i got 2 BIG ones.  It makes me literally gag sometimes. I definitely think this has to do with sinus issues. How long do these bad boys normally take to heal??? PLS help
Anyone know any way to get rid of the horrid smell?

Thank you ALL

As a kid, I had horrible sore throats and earaches and my dad did not believe in removing tonsils.  I guess he was right.  Seems it would not have helped anyway.  I had sore throats every morning of my life until I was 25.  I have had tonsil stones many times.  I was curious and gently removed some with a dental pick not to damage my tonsils.  The odor is terrible, but then I rinsed with salt water and it helped to heal everything.  I think there are more people with this condition than we are aware of, but it is not something we talk about in pleasant company. lol
Perhaps a nasal lavage would help?  Anyone tried it?

I started having tonsil stones after having my son 10 years ago.  I was rushed into surgery, had to have a blood transfusion, tubes down my throat etc.

Three months later I began having swollen tonsils that hurt really bad.  For the past 2 years I have found that the sore throat has gone away but the polyps still come.  Yes, my dentist noticed on an X-Ray that there was something he saw that led him to believe that I had prolbems withsinus drainage.

I believe taking antioxidants helped to eliminate the sore throats.   I use a Q-Tip to pick them off.  I no longer wait for them to grow of size to fall off.  My throat feels better once I rid of them.  Throat doesn't hurt but just doesn't feel completely comfortable.
