Please help!  In the begining of march I quit smoking around march 24th i felt this pulling pain in my throat and my neck started to swell.  It didnt hurt to swallow.  I went to the doctor and she didnt test me for anything she just said you have mono and gave me zythromax(spelling).  I took it until it was gone and the pain and swelling went away then on april the 13th it came back again.  My tonsils are huge but it dont hurt to swollow.  It feels like im choking. I have pain in my chest close to my left armpit and in the middle, around my sholders and into my back. I have a lump on the left side of my neck that gets bigger and smaller and causes lots of pain every now and then. When it is big its numb and hurts nerves or muscle around it I went to lots of doctors about it I have had it since 2001 they say it looks like calcified soft tissue or a calcium deposit but I never got a real answer. I hope it has nothing to do with my throat issue. I wounder why it came back so soon it has only been about 20 days. Any ideas of what might be wrong?

This is weird.

I also have a lump on the left side on my neck that seems to change its size every hour and sometimes causes pain. And I also have this pain around my right shoulder - exactly as you described.

Did you find out what's the problem?

It could be your thyroid, have you had it checked? I have some issues with my throat recently and can't get anyone to look into them any further. If you have something confirmed growing in you, you must get it out even if it is benign as they tell you. I don't want anything in me that isn't supposed to be there. If they said you have something don't sit oon it, get it out!!
Most things turn out to be nothing, as you probably read on here, but you still must get checked if you can if just to stop worrying.
My neck has been swelling and I feel like i am slowly choking, I have pain around my sternum. I have a scope in a couple weeks. I'll check back with you and let you know what they said. You sound similar to me. Not everything, but some.
