yellow tongue, swollen tonsil, post nasal drip

Hi,

So, about 6 weeks ago I got what I am sure was a flu. High temperature, sore throat, the works. After a day and a night, the temperature went away and I got a congested nose etc. After about a week, the congestion let up, however my tongue when yellow and brown. It wasnt patches but a coat as if that was the natural color of my tongue. On top of that, my nose would go through these cycles of one nostril being clear and one being blocked and then vice versa every like 10 hours. I was feeling okay but pretty much left it alone. Then one evening because i am a little obssessive i shone a light down the back of my throat and realized one of my tonsils was 2 times bigger than the other and even had a small white bump or two on it. So I made an appointment with the ENT. He then had me take a CBC, a tongue culture and a throat culture. With regards with the CBC, everything was normal except my lymphocytes were slightly under the range, but by 0.7. The throat culture came back negative with a 'normal flora'. My tongue came back negative however there was a fungul precense of 'candidas albicans'. So the doctor gave me 'clotrimazole' trouches/lozenges to put on my tongue. On top of that he looked up my nose and said i have a deviated septum and he gave me a prescription decongestant pseudoephredine with loratadine.

So my frustration is that some days im fine and some days my throat hurts or like today, i had terrible (what i think is) post nasal drip.

So my question is, does this seem like a long lingering Upper Respiratory Infection or possibly sinus infection or maybe a spreading fungus infection? Just for the record, during this ordeal i flew on a 10 hour flight with almost no issues. Also i have no history of sinus problems and havent had allergy problems since being a kid. im also an ex smoker. i have been quit 70 days.

any information would be great just because i am a little demoralized from this.

many thanks :)
