Extremely itchy ear

Hi there!

Back in November I noticed that one ear was particularly itchy. I went to the doctor who didn't notice anything unusual. I waited another two months and found the itchiness, which had now combined with pain, continued and had moved into the second ear, I went back to the doctor who perscribed a topical cream which did nothing except possibly make the problem worse. Another two months went by and after no relief from the symptoms went back to the doctor who prescribed some ear drops (which they believed would kill anything).Those finally relieved me of the symptoms during the time I was using it; however, it's now been a month since I stopped the medication and the itchiness/pain is back. Is there anything which I could do to ease the symptoms? Or is this something which will likely just remain?
