Septoplasty and Tear Duct Obstructions

I have a deviated septum on the same side of my nose as I have partial acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction.  The deviated septum is congential, but I likely got the duct obstruction from a fall about 2 years ago.  I have had the duct probed twice, and I recently had a DCP balloon catheterization procedure (which is working so far).  I would like to know whether, if I decide to finally get a septoplasty, I could undo the DCP and have the tearing return due to something like scarring from the septoplasy.  Is there a connection between having a deviated septum and an acquired NLD obstruction?  Thanks for any help.

Any number of processes can lead to nasolacrimal duct obstruction.  Trauma and sinonasal disease can definitely play a part in addition to inflammatory, infectious, and neoplastic causes.  Damage and scarring with nasal surgery is always a possibility but not a common complication after a septoplasty.  Best wishes.
