speech

hi there

just a question and hope sometime could help or just some advice. my son is 4 in feb 09 and he cant speak,
he is 2 years behind in speech, speech therapy isnt working and i notice when he tries to speak his tongue
goes into a v-shape either side of his tongue goes up and the middle part dips into like i said a v-shape, plus
seems like he has a high palate ( hope i have spelt it right ) also his speech therapist said that his tongue
dpesnt protrude to make certain sounds, could ENT be of help and would it be beneficial for him to see them
even if it is to rule things out?

The first thing to rule out in a child with speech delay is hearing dysfunction.  A work up by an ent with hearing tests by audiologists are the first step.  An evaluation by a pediatric ent may be able to see if there are any characteristics that may have a syndromic basis or if there are any anatomic variants.  I think your diligence with speech therapy is important.  Best wishes.
