menieres and pregnancy

I was diagnosed with Menieres about 1 yr after the birth of my second child.  Dyazide helps control most of my symptoms, although I just deal with the tinnitus.  I would like to get pregnant soon, and my OB told me I could not stay on Dyazide.  what do you recommend to control symptoms during pregnancy, which appears to be a fluid retaining period?  thanks

There are several options if you can't stay on diuretics.  First, you will want to discuss with your obstetrician an appropriate salt intake during your pregnancy.  Caffeine should be completely eliminated, as well as any food triggers that you can identify with your Meniere's.  If vertigo is a problem during pregnancy, options include short-course oral steroids, intratympanic steroids, and the Meniett device.  Your prognosis depends on how frequent your vertigo was before you instituted medical therapy.  Your obstetrician and ENT physician (you may want to see an otologist or ear specialist if you haven't already) will help you coordinate your regimen.  Good luck!
