Can doctors be wrong?

For 2 years now (I'm 20), I have suffereded from a stabbing pain in my upper stomach above the belly button. I'm usually always constipated and mostly trapped in my house unable to go out due to the drastic pain. Even when typing this I'm in an uncomfortable pain. I have been seeing 1 doctor for 6 months and another doctor for 1 month. So far the only thing that helps is Belladonna, which if I don't take every 8 hours I be unable to move around and work. The amitiza 8mcg barely does anything twice a day and when I took the amitiza 24mcg I go diarrhea with more pain and I past out. Now my doctor has placed me on Misoprostol and so far these past 2 weeks haven't gotten better. I felt better before I seen a doctor and now I can barely go out at all. I have been thru many tests, colonoscopy, endoscopy(which ulcers were found) but were never treated. Blood work and catscans. Did the gole bladder test and everything else came out normal. My doctors tell me these medicines should be helping but I just feel worst. The only thing that helps is Belladonna. I tried eating more fiber 25 grams a day for 8 weeks, I tried whole wheat for 4 weeks. Are my doctors wrong that they over looked something?

Its been a while since your last post, but it was interesting to me because I suspect my niece may be going thru something similar. I hope your daughter is better now. My niece has seen every doctor imaginable, with no results. She has alot of pain, and actually passes out, every time she eats. It happens right after or during eating. She was bulimic for a short period about a year ago, but believes that is gone. Your comment about being guilty about eating made sense to me. My niece also has had trauma in her life and I believe she internalizes it. I have researched somatization too, and I think its a possibility for my niece, but my sister doesn't think so because her psych. said he thinks her problems are organic. All the other doctors, however have referred her to psych.! Any info. you might add would be appreciated.

Have you ever had any burning sensation in the area above your stomach, heartburn? You could have acid reflux. It may not be backing up in your throat, but the pain and ulcers make me feel that is what it could be. Try taking prilosec(they have a generic). They come in 20mg doses. You can take 40mg three times a day. Make sure the last dose is before you go to bed. See if the pain goes away in a week. If it does, it means you over-producing acid. Too much acid can cause ulcers and ulcers can cause pain. Prilosec also heals the stomach. In acid reflux the esophagus where it is connected to the stomach does not close properly and it will back up your throat, especially when you lay down. You tend to get used to it after a while and don't notice it as much. I have it and it was a while before a dr found it. You don't have to have the problem with the muscle not closing to produce too much acid though. Stay away from apples, tomatoes, citrus fruits,& coffee. If you are producing too much acid, then it will start easing off. Don't eat anything that contains something acidic as an ingredient. Hope this solves your problem. Don't go with other anti-acids. A lot of them are too weak to help that much acid. I have had it for years and take it all the time. Once the acid is under control you can slowly cut back on the amt, but my dr said the larger amount is pr oven to be safe. It will heal the esophagus also if there is acid damage. The endoscopy should have shown damage to the esophagus, but it doesn't always cause damage right away. Damage to the esophagus can have very bad consequences. It is worth a try. I would not take the other meds with it though, and it can rule out too much acid if it works. Let me know how things go. I'm not usually on this forum, so go to my profile and let me know if it helps you. Also, drink plenty of water, it should help with the constipation. If not, get a stool softener, not a laxative. Lack of water can cause the constipation. Constipation can cause other problems from the strain.

My daughter had this pain, had every test too. She is at a eating disorder clinic now
Could be Symatization, that she internalizes her emotions to the point it makes her sick.
She is strong willed and has Anxiety but will not take meds.
She has been to the E R several times and told nothing is wrong with you. She was told to try gluten free and did not eat enough. then told she had bacteria, and mercury and with all of this would under eat which can be a cause of pain. all these diagnosis feed her disease of being picky about food.

Are you picky about what you eat and eating small amounts. Its possible to feel guilty about food and make yourself sick. Or internalize Emotional Trauma which is different for all of us. I feel sick when im stessed out, i half to stop it or be sick.

You say you are always constipated. Could that be it? Have you had an x-ray done to see?

Try a low fat diet if it was the Gall Bladder that would help there are lists of foods to eat and foods to leave alone, possible Gall baldder Attacks, is the Pain worse an hour or Two after eating? or IBS put some of these into the search Engine to see what it could be.
