Digestive Issues from Eating Disorder

Does anyone know if symptoms such as constipation or other GI or Digestive issues have been directly linked to bulimia?

Yes, lower GI problems are a common result of EDs, especially when purging is involved. But the GI tract is quite resilient and can recover from a lot of abuse. If you can take control of your ED, your GI troubles will likely fade.

I believe that digestive problems are linked to bulima. I have read this somewhere. I also have suffered from bulimia for many years, and have been diagnosed with Irritable Boweld Disease, but now I have come to realize that my digestive problems are from my bulimia. I have messed up my body so much that I have to take something everyday in order to go to the bathroom, if I don't I will go days without. If you think about what bulimia is doing, getting rid of the food and the water you consume, what is left to go through your system? I have tried drinking extra water especially after I purge, but I still have issues. I have never told my doctors about my bulimia, just complain of constipation, bloating, cramps, and occasional opposite effect. I think the only cure to stop the digestive problems is to stop purging. I am trying to convice myself that is the only way.
