ENRD, long term care

This disease has made me feel very sick in the past.  I was diagnosed in 2005.
I've been prescribed Nexium for the acid reflux and Lorazapam to help me feel better.  I've changed my diet drastically to avoid re-occurances but they do come from time to time.  I find myself eating three Lorazapam a day for a week or two until the symptoms go away.  I'm worried about self medicating for a lifetime and the long term effects of these drugs.  Is this the best way to manage this disease?

You might want to try posting on the GERD forum, as this is one for Eating Disorders. (I also have longterm GERD which seems to be getting worse and nothing revealed on my endoscopy, so my sympathy is with you. )
