Have been taking laxatives and want to stop

I am an 18 year old girl , 152 pounds 5'9.
I've never been happy with my body so for the past 2 years or so I have been taking laxatives on and off, more so recently. My weight flucuates I lot, and everytime I eat something I regret it later and beat myself up about it. I know I have a problem with the way I view myself, and I want to stop taking 5-6 laxatives sometimes daily. What can I do to stop myself from binge eating? And how can I undo the harm I may have caused to my body already. Can someone tell me what laxatives can do to you?

Taking so many laxatives on a daily basis can have long-ranging effects on your digestive system. Please get yourself checked out by a doctor and possibly a gastroenterologist. You are, unfortunately caught up in the cycle of an eating disorder, but the good news is you haven't been doing it very long so you should benefit from treatment. Have your doctor recommend a therapist who is experienced in eating disorders. Eating disorders are about more than just food and weight and it is important to get to the bottom of your emotions. You might also try going to meetings of OA. Look in the phonebook under Overeaters Anonymous. It is so helpful to meet with others who understand what you are going through. I wish you luck and even though it will be hard work  you will be amazed how free you feel when you get into recovery from your eating disorder. I have 16 years recovery myself and am grateful every day!
