Help, Bulimic for 10 years and needs help stopping this!

I am new here, and have never talked to anyone about my problem before. I have been bulimic for almost 10 years. Not the occasional binge and purge, but more of the multiple times a day binge and purge, only a handful of days have I not purged. I have health issues, but nothing major. I am recently married and want to end this once and for all. I can tell it is taking a toll on my body and my mental health. I want to know what others have done to take that first step in recovery. Are there any methods or advice you may have for someone like me? My husband wants to start a family soon, and I know this has to stop before I can even think of that. Please help me....

you are already taking the first steps by admitting that you know you have a problem.  you need to get in to a doctor and get some blood work done to see where your electrolytes are and to let him/her know you have this condition and want help to get well.  a good counselor and a dietitian would also be alot of help.  i've been through this with one daughter who is now well, but her twin sister is now struggling with the same problem.

i can remember as a teenager having some of these tendencies myself----probably more disordered eating rather than an eating disorder---but that was back in the days when we were first hearing about anorexia.
