Is Zyprexa or Seroquel preferable for treating Anorexia Nervosa with comorbid depression?

I have been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa with comorbid depression and my therapist would like me to take 2.5 mg of Zyprexa....yet I hear its potential to induce diabetes and excessive weight gain is far superior to that of Seroquel...I want to feel "normal" again...yet I do not want to gain so much...swinging "the other way" in extremus!

Which medicine is preferable in this case...or is there a third?  Risperadone?

Thank you so much for any enlightenment in this regard...

Respectfully yours,
Fabu50

You are right to be concerned with these side effects. Neither of these medications are specific for anorexia, so I can not make a recommendation for that, but when you talk to your doctor you can ask him the purpose of the medication, and whether he or she will monitor the side effects like diabetes closely enough so you can stop it before it becomes a problem.
